Had Suresh Raina hit the ton….

Sunday, September 27, 2009

*** Suresh Raina missed his half century by just 4 runs and India lost the match. Had he scored 50 India might win the match (you can say that). As Suresh Raina had hit 10 half centuries and TWO hundreds so far in his ODI career and India never lost those matches. His highest score is 46 (this match) in the matches India lost.
*** Same thing can be apply with Gautam Gambhir (57) as India lost only second ODI when Delhi southpaw scored 50 plus. He has hit 16 half centuries and India won in 14 of them.
*** There was not a single sixer in Pakistan score of 302. This is the only 4th instance when a team filed to hit any sixes in the score of more then 300. Incidently Indian team involved in 3 of the 4 occasions. However once when they batted.
India (309) failed to hit any six against Australia at Cochi in 1997-98
South Africa (321) missed sixes against Pakistan at Nairobi in 1996-97
Sri Lanka (309) not able to hit any sixes Vs India at Colombo on 12 September 2009
Pakistan (302) Vs India on 26 Sept 2009 at Centurion
*** This time it was lucky century for Shoaib Malik against India. As he has scored 4 hundreds against the arch rival and Pakistan lost two of them.
*** This was the 24th occasion when India failed to chase the target of over 300 and 8th time this has happened against Pakistan.
*** However India has won 8 ODI by achieving the target of over 300 in its ODI history.
*** This was the 128th instance when Sachin Tendulkar failed to reach DOUBLE FIGURE out of 429 ODI he has played so far. India lost 62 of them and won 54 so far.
*** This was the 22nd occasion when an Indian bowler (Ashish Nehra 4 for 55) took 4 or more wickets in an innings ant the team lost the match. Ajit Agarkar is on top of the list with 6 for 42 Vs Australia at Melbourne on 9 January 2004 and India lost that VB series match by 18 runs.
