The 13 member squad of Politicians
Tuesday, September 15, 2009
BCCI normally announces the squad of 15 member team of cricketers for various series but with the election of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as the president of Gujarat Cricket Association now India has the 13 member squad of all powerful politicians.
Modi’s election to the post will bring to an end of Congress domination of the GCA, with outgoing president and former deputy Chief Minister Narhari Amin having occupied the post since September 1993. Narendra Modi taking over the post as a surprise with all indicators pointing to state home minister Amit Shah becoming the new president. Shah elected as vice president. Modi's name did not even appear anywhere till yesterday, but now he has the boss of state Cricket Association too.
For more than a year now, the BJP and Congress have been engaged in a bitter war over control of the cash-rich GCA. After losing control over the Central Board of Cricket, Ahmedabad (CBCA) in July, where Amit Shah won, Amin immediately stepped down realising he had all but lost control of the GCA
However as far the Indian cricket is concerned Amin will take a relief to know that still Congress have the lead. As there are 8 of the 13 politicians are from Congress.
Here is the squad of the Indian Cricket politicians.
BJP Narendra Modi (Gujarat)
BJP Arun Jaitley (Delhi)
BJP Anurag Thakur (Himachal Pradesh)
Congress Tarun Gogoi (Assam)
Congress G Vinod (Hyderabad)
Congress Rajiv Shukla (Uttar Pradesh)
Congress Arvind Chaudhury (Haryana)
Congress Jyotiraditya Scindia (Madhya Pradesh)
Congress Gautam Roy (Assam)
Congress Dayanand Narvekar (Goa)
Congress Srikantadatta Wadiyar (Karnataka)
NCP Sharad Pawar (Mumbai)
NC Farooq Abdulla (J & K )
