Rare distinction for Daniel Vettori

When he took a wicket of Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara New Zealand skipper and Daniel Vettori became the 8th all rounder in the history of test cricket to score more than 3000 runs and bag 300 or more wickets. Vettori, already 3329 runs to his credit, claimed his 300th wicket when Jacob Oram caught Sangakkara at the mid-wicket region on the first day of the second test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground at Colombo.
With this Vettori joined the likes of Kapil Dev, Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham and Imran Khan. 34 year old Vettori is playing his 94 test. The others are: Shaun Pollock) South Africa), Shane Warne (Australia) and Chaminda Vaas (Sri Lanka).
