*** 23 August: This is the 4th test for England which ended on 23 August and England never lost. They won thrice (all against Australia, by 161 runs in 1993 and by 19 runs in 1997, by 197 runs in 2009). Interestingly all victory at The Oval. England and South Africa drew a test in 1960 at The Oval on 23 August.
*** Only twice Australia achieved 200 or more runs target on England soil. 404 at Leeds in 1948 and 242 at The Oval in 1972.
*** Against any team: last time Australia scored more than 300 runs and won a test was against Bangladesh at Fatullah in 2005-06. They achieved the target of 307 by losing 7 wickets.
*** In this series Australia scored 406 at Lord’s still lost the match by 115 runs.
*** 10th century for Mike Hussey but this is the first time Australia has lost a test when Hussey scored hundred.
*** Hussey became the 43rd Australian to score a hundred for the losing team against England.
*** This was the 5th DUCK for Michael Clarke in his test career. Interestingly Australia have lost only ONCE when Clarke out on Zero. (Lost to South Africa at Cape Town in 2008-09).
*** 11th time Ricky Ponting run out in his 229-innings test career. 7 times Australia has won the test when Ponting lost his wicket by running him out.
*** This is the 3rd occasion Ponting ran out against England.
*** 27th Half century for Ponting as captain. Only Alan Border (36) and Stephen Fleming (31) have scored more then him. Clive Lloyd also scored 27 fifties as captain.
*** This was the 48th fifty for Ricky Ponting in his test career.
*** This is the 99th lost for Australia against England.
*** This is the 16th lost for Australia at The Oval.
*** England also won the series by 2-1 in 2005.
