West Indian opener Chris Gayle, while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, was in full form against Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens on Sunday and blast 4 sixes in an over of Ravi Bopara. In this process Bopara has given 33 runs in that over. This is the new record in Indian Premier League history.
No bowler has given 33 runs in a single over in IPl. The previous record, though dubious, was 30 runs given by Andrew Symonds of Hyderabad when he gave away 30 runs to Virender Sehwag against Delhi in 2008 at Hyderabad.

1500 runs in Twenty20 games

India opner and Delhi’s former captain Virender Sehwag also completed 1500 runs in Twenty20 games in the match between Delhii and Bangaloer at Kotla on Sunday. He reached the milestone when he was on 22 during his knock of 35. At the end of the game his aggregate stood at 1513

JH Kallis is the 25th batsman in the history of Twenty 20 games to aggregate 1500 runs. He has represented Warriors, Western Province Boland, South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Twenty20 games.

Its TWO run win for the ROYALS

Deccan Chargers have been abject with the ball towards the end of the innings all tournaments but Shane Warne produced the old magic and handed the ball over to Siddharth Trivedi for the last over of the match against Deccan Chargers, Hyderabad at the VCA Stadium, Nagpur on Monday. This was the first ever IPL match on this ground and what a match that was. Rajasthan Royals, in the end, won the match by just two runs and earned TWO points too.
This was the only fourth occasion when a team won the match by less then 2 runs. Interestingly Rajasthan won 2 of them and Hyderabad have lost three times by 3 or less runs in IPL.
One more interesting thing is that five matches were won by the team in three or less runs and five of them were in the month of May. See the table.

Four wicket in IPL as captain

Shane Warne’s match winning performance of 4 for 21 against Hyderabad at the VCA stadium, Nagpur on Monday gave him an aggregate of 43 wickets in IPL and he now stands second in the list of most wicket taker in IPL. RP Singh of Hyderabad leads the table with 47 wickets. Shane Warne is the fourth bowler to capture 40 plus wickets in this tournament.
However Warne registered his best bowling performance in IPL when he took 4 for 21 against Hyderabad on Monday and he became the second captain to capture four wickets after Anil Kumble of Bangalore. Anil Kumble had taken 4 for 16 against Hyderabad at Wanderers on 24 May 2009, the finals of the second edition of IPL held in South Africa.
There are 27 occasion of a bowler capturing four or more wickets in IPL. The break up of 27 occasion read thus- 11 in 2008 edition, 12 in 2009 edition and 4 in this season.
Shane Warne is the third Rajasthan bowler to capture four wickets in an innings after Sohail Tanvir (twice) and Amit Singh.
