India, Pakistan and Saturday
Friday, September 25, 2009
India and Pakistan will play its league match of the ICC Champions Trophy on Saturday at the Centurion Park, Ceturion India would seek to draw inspiration from history. India beat Pakistan on the same ground in 2003 World Cup with help of masterful 98 off 75 balls from Sachin Tendulkar.
The interesting thing is it was Saturday on 1 March 2003 and again it is Saturday tomorrow when both meets at Centurion. The day is not significant as far as the cricket history but for India-Pakistan match everything is significant.
India and Pakistan have played 117 ODI so far and 16 of them were on Saturday while 29 of them were Friday. On Saturday both have won 8 ODI each but if we takes September month into account India has upper hand. Both have met 5 times on Saturday of the September and India has won 3 and lost 2 of them.
On 1st March 2003 (Saturday) India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets at Centurion.
